Search for meaning a shaky slope
foothills of apathetic thoughts
panoramic brash youth to naught
bridges to nowhere a'frayed rope
an aftermath of passion's path
meager firepits with charred hope
whichever trail to tread we ought?
search for meaning a shaky slope.

Written for One Stop Monday Form – Octains.

Love it! I tried to write this form last night and came up with only sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteOh very nicely done! Great word choice and strong message.
ReplyDeletei much like the content of this matt - the structure and rhymes are good some iambic lines - but not all the way through (which is ok - doesn't have to be iambic or trochaic) i love the aftermath of passion's path line a lot and i agree, the search for meaning IS a shaky slope...nice one
ReplyDeleteNicely done! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting style. You completed the piece in the right syllabic count which I am beginning to think may be more important than keeping it tetrameter as it makes the symmetry even. (I of course didn't do that :-)) I think this is actually something that is true to my experience. Well done. Gay
ReplyDeletefoothills of apathetic thought--enjoy that and the other images you create in this.
ReplyDeletefine Octain Matt. You nailed the form. The hardest part, I realise more and more after seeing now nearly 80 written, is getting that c/c line 5 midline rhyme in without it seeming corny or forced. Eight syllables is not a lot of space and it can come out a little Dr Seuss. You certainly avoided that. Kudos, great job here.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
ReplyDeleteFantastic write Matt! Really dig the close ~ Rose
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to mention to someone about your gravity soon, we can flash fiction on the interaction ;)
An aftermath to passions path. good job
ReplyDeleteLovely octain, very persuasive search for meaning!
ReplyDeletemeaningful and true to form...good poem.
ReplyDeleteThis floats my boat. You did well with the form, yet kept your own finger print on it.
ReplyDeleteSimply wonderful. Wish I could be that good in short.....
